Associate Professor Ricardo T. Bagarinao has been awarded a Creative Scholarship Program Grant by the University of the Philippines System Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs (OVPPPA) for his research proposal on “Urban Landscape Patterns Change and Its Environmental Effects: The Case of Calamba City, Laguna, Philippines.”

This one-year Scholarship Program starting October 2012 entitles Dr. Bagarinao a grant equivalent to 60% of his annual salary. The grant only requires that the research be published in an ISI listed or SSCI indexed journal.

The Creative Research Scholarship Program aims to encourage faculty and REPS to undertake research that will lead to publications or exhibitions or performances of creative work or other significant output such as patents, new software, and advanced technologies. To ensure the quality of output, work resulting from the grant shall be refereed prior to the full release of the grant.

On the other hand, three UPOU Faculty members have been awarded the 2012 International Publications Award: Prof. Alexander Flor, Prof. Felix Liberero and Asst. Prof. Juvy Gervacio.

Flor’s book chapter on “ICTD Curriculum Development and Professional Training: Mainstreaming SIRCA Research Models” which he co-authored with Roger Harris was published in the book titled, “Linking Research to Practice: Strengthening ICT for Development Research Capacity in Asia”, ISEAS Publishing, Institute of Southeast Asian Studies, 2012.

Dr. Flor’s book chapter on “ICTD Praxis: Bridging Theory and Practice” was released in the book titled, “Linking Research to Practice: Strengthening ICT for Development Research Capacity in Asia”, ISEAS Publishing, Institute of Southeast Asian Studies, 2012.

Prof. Felix Librero’s book chapter on “Development Communication Education in Los Baños: Contributions from Graduate Research” was published in the book titled, “Development Communication in Directed Social Change, A Re-appraisal of Theory and Practice”, Asian Media Information and Communication Centre, 2012.
